In the late summer and early autumn of 2008, The Features self-released their second full-length album, Some Kind of Salvation.

The album was originally released digitally on Saturday, June 28, 2008. However, this release was inadvertent and was a couple of months earlier than planned. It was quickly removed from the on-line outlets.[1]

The album was available for pre-order on August 25[2] and was officially released on Tuesday, September 30, 2008.

On Tuesday, July 28, 2009, the album was re-released by 429 Records, which is an imprint of Bug Music. The imprint is overseen by Kings of Leon.[3]

Tracks 14 and 15 were available only to people who purchased the vinyl version of the record. They were given a special coupon with a code that would allow them to download a digital copy of the album from the band's web site. This digital version included the two additional tracks.

Three tracks from the album ("Baby's Hammer," " GMF," and "Lions") were released via the band's MySpace page in April, 2008.[4]

The record's title is taken from a lyric in the song "Lions".

The release show for the record was held at Mercy Lounge on October 24, 2008.
