We need a poll.  How do you like your "Temporary Blues"?  Original and frantic?  When they added the bridge from their older song "Discoteque"?  Or the anthemic version on Some Kind of Salvation?

Discuss.

I really prefer the SKoS version.  I never cared much for "Temporary Blues" before, but the new version really gets to me.

I especially like the line that says, "and small talk about the things we wished we'd done when we were young."  As I'm getting older, that line seems very relevant to me.

I think the new version blows.

I like the new one... never really understood the allure of the old one.

I like them best from oldest to newest (with the amount I like the newest being very little).  I don't want to be mistaken for a hater of everything new though.

I got an advance copy from Rory about a year ago and thought, "meh. I miss Parrish." It took Drake (my 4 1/2 year old) to dig it out of my CD pile and fall in love with it for it to grow on me. He listened to it non-stop. At one point my wife hid it, he listened to it so much. Drake knew it backwards and forwards to the point that it really grew on me. In fact, today I put it on at work to listen to it while I did mindless color correcting and rendering. I truly think it's one of the best things to come out in some time. Put aside the fact the Features of old are gone. Matt's older, his kids are older, viewpoints change. This is one the most introspective works I've heard from any artist. Period.

I do miss the awesome discotheque breakdown part, but overall as a song, I think newest is bestest.
I TOTALLY AGREE!

When I first heard SoS version I was pretty disappointed but it has really grown on me and now it's my favorite version followed closely by the version with the "Discoteque" breakdown. I never thought it would happen but it has.

The riff of the old "Temporary Blues" was just so catchy and powerful, I really hate that that music is gone. Yeah, the lyrics to the new song are brilliant, but it's still not "Temporary Blues." I think I'd be happy if the old music resurfaced with new lyrics and title, that would ease the pain. So my vote was for the original. Straight up.

The new one is more epic than ever with all the sing-alongs and whooa oh ohs.  I dig it the most.

I believe that both versions have a lot to offer. I still listen to my old burned copy from Digsy on occasion, but the clean, tight nature of the newer version sounds great as well.

And I once missed Parrish, but I think Mark brings a lot of talent and newness to the keys that was needed. It's great to see/hear them perform live.
