A Chat with Don

(1/1)

MajorSeventh:
So. Let's just say. For conversation's sake. That the formerly-of-the-Features Sergio brothers were going to be appearing on the radio station for their old school (which totally streams right here) on Tuesday, November 29 at 6pm CST to play some rarities and talk about the formative days of the band on a badass radio show that plays Nashville-area music. Yeah. Let's just say. If something like that were to happen, are there any questions anyone would like to have answered on air or any hard-to-find recordings that could be played if only to prove that they exist?

Now, I'm not saying this is actually happening, but, you know....it is.

Juan Horsetown:
My number one question that I'll bet you're already planning to ask is why Don left the band in the first place. Second, I'd like to know how much he influenced the writing of Features songs while he was in the band, especially since there was a major shift in their sound after he left.

It's all gravy after that.  I will make every effort to be around a radio around then just in case something as crazy as what you described actually happened.

MajorSeventh:
Just a reminder to all that this is happening, it's tonight, it's streaming, and you should definitely be listening.

Juan Horsetown:
I'm so angry that it totally slipped my mind until yesterday (I only have spotty access to this board, so that keeps me from seeing it daily to remind me).

Did you record the interview?  I know a website that would be more than happy to host it if you're willing to share.   :D

MajorSeventh:
We decided against recording it, but the good news is, there was a ton of stuff we didn't have time to play or talk about and the guys want to come back next semester. They're hoping to have even stranger things in store (8-tracks?) and maybe a current Feature in tow. A rundown on some of the things I can still remember a week later:

The band was almost called The Charlie Volts
The brothers used royalty money from "Thursday" in Europe to buy their first brewing equipment
Roger called in!
"Treehouse Club" is all about the first recording/practice space the guys had
There was a nice story about taking a megaphone dropped by the Tennessee Tech marching band and using it in recording
We played a couple tracks off the Dortch album, the rarity of which I don't really know (as much as I love the Features, sorting out their history and getting hands on demos and whatnot is hard work)
