New York Protests

(1/1)

FeaturesTroll:
Is the ongoing Times Square situation proving that protesting is losing it's power to change? Almost everyone seems to agree with the protesters' cause, yet it seems to be gaining no momentum. So what's to blame? Mass media pretty much ignoring it? Poor execution by protest organizers?

FeaturesTroll:

Tom Foolery:
I was only vaguely aware of the protests before you mentioned it here.

I basically agree with what they stand for... but it seems like a hopeless cause.  Perhaps our apathy stems from our loss of faith in the people's ability to change the system.

meridian:
I think the protests are very important.  Our economics are fundamentally broken and unjust.  we need radical social change to put our country back on track.  I think these protests are just the beginning of a massive upheaval!

Juan Horsetown:
I think they're going about it the wrong way. They need some more organization and to find a way to look less like a bunch of hippies who have nothing better to do since they have no job.

As to whether protests still have the power to change things, I think their power has faded since the sixties.
