sinasugarsick:
how has the current downfall of the economy affected you?

Juan Horsetown:
I'm equally as broke as I was two years ago, so no.   :P

DigsySlattery:
I was laid off yesterday and now get to have fun trying to find new employment.

I took a major hit in my retirement funds, but I'm expecting they'll bounce back over the next 30 years.  The timing has been extra shitty for my dad who just retired this year, though.  That guy went out of his way to make sure he had a nice sum of money when he retired, but he's now left with a fraction of it.  Considering I'm a primary beneficiary, I guess that means I'll be getting a lot less when he passes, but I'm more concerned with him getting to have the retirement lifestyle he worked his ass off for.

One of my best friends lost his job, but he seems to have a good support structure/severence package.  A close family member was worried about a lay-off at his factory, too, but he seems safe for now.

I get a little annoyed when people bitch about the economy when it has no direct impact on them whatsoever.  In reality, most people I know are still working the same job for the same pay and have very few investments to speak of.

Keith:
I'm working the same job at the same (shitty) pay. My investments have taken a beating. People I work with haven't been let go, but pretty much anytime anyone has left in the last year, they haven't been replaced and I get that much more work to do as a result. Less people have been seeking treatment (at least at semi-expensive cumberland heights) this year, and my boss recently asked how we could cut costs, making everyone a little nervous. I own my house, and one of my roommates couldn't afford it anymore and left, but that was a blessing. My parents have both been affected in different ways. and so on. I think pretty much everyone is feeling it.
