The Features Have Been Signed?
« on: April 05, 2009, 10:58:55 AM »
According to the side panel over at wherearethefeatures.com, SKoS will be available in stores on May 26.  So has the band been signed by a label?  Does anyone know which label or have any other relevant information?

I haven't heard anything about them being signed.  Maybe it's something with Grand Palace?

What I want to know is what the heck is going on with that website.  Bunch of weirdos.

Pretty sure it's nothing with GP. I'm curious to know what's up though.

Pelham said the album is being released through Red Eye, which I can't really find out more about online. It's a smaller part of something. Anyone know any more?

According to Red Eye's site they're on Loose Tooth Records:

I had a great chance to speak with the band in Cleveland this week... and being new to this whole community and forums in general (this being my first post on anything ever...) Im not sure if this is out of line but they mentioned signing papers this week on something the KOL are doing, a start up label for them per chance? seems like a logical step.

Look at the size of that graduated cylinder!

So The Features are starting their own label?  Can we have a contest here to help them name it?

The way I read that, they had to write something in the "label" spot for their self-released album, so they grabbed "loose tooth" out of thin air.

Now the KOL thing on the other hand...

Fantastic news!

Now, if only they could land an opening gig when KOL comes back to play Sommet Center this fall...

Pardon my ignorance, but what's the difference between a label and an imprint?

Imprint
When a label is strictly a trademark or brand, not a company, then it is usually called an imprint, a term used for the same concept in the publishing industry. An imprint is sometimes marketed as being a project, unit, or division of a record label company, even though there is no legal business structure associated with the imprint.

i didn't write that... wiki did.
